Didn't know if I should post this in the regional section or not. I'd be interested in the opinions of the PH database which county has the best or most interesting driving roads?

I'm thinking that if I base myself in Bristol, this will give me the best access point to all the south west has to offer, along with a bit of Wales.

The devon and cornwall coast roads are great and the roads over dartmoor and exemoor can be brilliant if the traffic is clear.
The A396 from Dunster to Tiverton is also a nice piece of tarmac.

Hope you have fun.

Devon for me. Lots of awesome lanes all over the county - but particularly through the South Hams and over Dartmoor - just make sure its not a bank holiday weekend! Some great open flowing A roads on the Southern Edge of the Moor but north of the A38.

I discovered that the A3072 from Crediton to Tiverton is a brilliant piece of twisty road, if maybe a bit busy as per Devons main roads. Will deffo be getting up early for a proper drive on it at some point!
