I know this topic has been covered a couple of times but I am looking for some recommendations - I am after some shirts that are made to measure.

I have discounted totally bespoke shirts as they are too expensive.

I don't wnat to use Raja Fashions travelling tailor as I have read too many bad reviews

My two options seem to be

1) Use one of these online or ebay companies that takes the measurements and posts you the shirt - the downside is you cannot feel the material or be sure you have measured properly

2) Visit a made to measure place and have them do it - but its more expensive.

I am leaning towards 2. Can anyone recommend such a place in London or Hampshire (or surrounding areas).

Not much difference between made to measure & bespoke when it comes to shirts - it's not like a bespoke suit with repeated fittings.

I've had shirts made for me in the past (Parisian maker, so not much use as an answer to your question), but to be honest, the variation that a decent shirtmaker will provide off the peg anyway (slim fit, shorter arms, longer arms, different collars etc) gets you 90% of the way there anyway.

It's probably only really worth it if you are a very odd shape.

That being said, there are a few decent bespoke clothing shops around Spitalfields and Liverpool Street - one down Founier (sp?) Street, one down Artillery Passage, and there is http://www.emmettlondon.com/ who do bespoke shirts as well as off the peg. I haven't used them, but they look alright from a cursory inspection.

How far are you from Farnham? I have used room 10 (I think www.roomten.co.uk) and no complaints with the shirts.

There are outlets in most towns which do made-to-measure shirts; usually in secondary locations to keep the costs. Three in Colchester, IIRC. They measure you up, ping the order 'back home' and 4-6 weeks later you collect. 3 for £100.

3 for 100 would be a bargain

Can hardly find anything close to where I am.

I think you're expecting a lot for £45 per shirt.

WWW.asuitthatfits.com will measure you in London and have them made in Nepal. Think they are 70 a shirt or 5 for 250. I can't vouch for the shirts but I've been very happy with the 3 suits I've had from them and will probably get some shirts with my next order.

Thanks
Might give them a visit when I am next in london - although if i am in london that opens to door to a load of other shops I guess

Anymore?

£50 a shirt (well bulk buying 5) seems like a good price IMO so anything around that sort of mark.

This is one of the places in Colchester; I think they take 15 different measurements and do 3 shirts for £100.

You leave, they send measurements to Bangkok. Shirts made in 2-3 days for £8-10 each . sent to uk . .
Very few will make a shirt in the UK for less than £60 a pop

Sticks.

Not sure what you want to pay, but this tailor in Tun Wells also offers shirt-making http://www.bespoke-tailors.co.uk/
