I had my insurance renewal last week, and was quoted £320 with 10000 miles. As I don't do anywhere near that amount of miles, I thought I'd call them and see if I could get a reduced premium if I brought down the mileage to 5000. I was amazed to find that the revised quote went up by over £50 to £375.

The explanation given was that by making an amendment they had to treat me as a new enquiry, and since the renewal quote was issued, insurance had gone up.

The insurer is Allianz Cornhill and the broker is MasterQuote. I was told I cannot use the original quote as once you ask for another quote it deletes the original offer. Hmm

With that level of service sounds like you should use a different broker!

I had a problem with my insurers, I made a few modifications which I thought I better tell them about and they wanted before and after power graphs with the possibility of 70% increase on an already high premium of £365 for 1500 mile (while ive been doing lots of work to it)

Phoned Classic Line mods no problem,3,000 miles per annum £196 !!

I'm with Classicline too .. very reasonable.

I told them the SEAC was modded with 10% more power and they were happy with that .. especially as there
is really no way that I could have 324bhp original +
10% (32)- 356 bhp ... no chance.

They charge me about £320 for 5K miles.

I have had numerous quotes from Classicline to change the miles etc and they never once bounced the premium to that degree.

Incidentally - renewed mine yesterday, did the usual ringing around to see if could get cheaper, was asked why I was bothering when the renewal was £250.. no-one even came close/some didn't bother - rang Classicline to sort the renewal and queried why so cheap (not that I'm complaining) - was told that they treat all wedges/S series different to Griffith/Chimaera onwards as the claims for Chims etc are numerous/horrendous, whereas wedges/S series is minimal (assume we look after-em ) - the added benefit of owning a wedge

Classicline seem to speak sense (from an insurance broker!!!!!)

I'll be testing them against Mannings come July, your experience is useful

Interesting -

Some of you guys must live in the middle of nowhere with no crime in the area!

I remember the previous thread on insurance. It is possible my fee of £260 p.a. and 4000 miles with Carole Nash is still quite good. I may check Classic Line though.

I know the quote for the Jag was about doubled using ordinary insurance and they said the car and the area had been re-rated upwards! So the Jag is now on classic insurance.

I've just changed from a Tasmin to a SEAC with Classic Line for £86 at 24. Thought that was bloody good.

I told my agent of the engine mod and they didn't bat an eye lid. Just said it's OK and no problems. £480 odd, unlimited.

Bein wantin to use the car daily fully comp biz use, after original Swinton quote with N.U. of £1150 for a 350i,when I saw Shadowfax 400SE earlier this month I got quoted £954.

Through Manning I got Fully Comp biz use, £150 excess, with N.Union, for £860. I really cant argue even with 6 yrs NCB. Penalised where I live ye see. Twas £570 odd for a mazda 626glx2.0i. No comparison - well, there is, but it is different.

£860 for unlimited mileage cos it's my main car - with me and my missus as named driver, both fully comp. Let's me use Vera as 2nd car for £114 with PBest, again 2 drivers, 5k max.

Any numbers for classicline as Mannings have just sent the renewal note through for the SEAC and its up £75 on last year and down 1000 miles to 2000 on the max mileage. Do classicline do trackday cover as this is included for TVRCC days with Manning?
