Seen a few of these on the net now and on paper they look great. Fully aerobatic with pitch control and tail rotor gyro so just like a proper model heli. How good are they though, and more importantly how robust are they?

I had (still have) RC helicopters from when I was a teenager (Hirobo MH10 and a Kyosho Convert EX), however they were both fearsomely difficult to fly so consequently I was always terrified of smashing them up and not being able to afford to fix them. Now it's not a question of affordability of parts, rather availability as even at the time they were pretty rare machines, so it's best that they stay grounded as "classics".

I'd like to get back into the hobby as I did enjoy it, but living in Central London it's not really practical to go for a normal size heli as you can't fly them indoors, hence my interest in these sub-micro helis.

Does anyone have one and are there any recommended makes/models?

E flite blade mcr is a great little heli.
Should be about 100 quid ready to fly, and flies much like a full size.

Spares are also easy to get hold of- usually- bit of a problem when they first came out but seems to have settled down now.

They are suprisingly robust though, and are very good fliers

The E-flite blade mcx is a very stable and easy to fly heli, it uses counter-rotating blades and therefore has no tail rotor. Theres a new V2 version just out so should be some good deals on the first version.

The E-flite blade msr is another very good heli, this uses a tail rotor and offers more flexibilty and fun, you can pick this up for about £110.

These are both very strong for their size and weight. Do a search on youtube and you'll see just what they are like to fly.

Another vote for the E-Flite Blade MCX here, had mine since last xmas and it's a lot of fun. Can even be used outdoors on calm days. Lots of spare parts available if you crash it

I think the MSR would be better for you as you have flown helis before.
The contra rotating helis dont work in the same way as a single rotor + tail.
I found my micro heli (walkera 43B) very helpful when learning to fly a larger model.
