Finally finished and back on the road after 5 years laid up, my MG Montego Turbo. Still quick too and looks the dog's danglers!

that - I like

not sure on the wheels as the tyres look a bit too low profile for it but i really do like that (a montego turbo is on the list of cars to own before i die)

What's going on under the bonnet then? What's it putting out?

I always liked the dashboard on the Montego and Maestro with that 80's graphic line pattern! I think they are cool cars, I can't remember when I last saw a Montego, or an MG version, let alone the Turbo.

My mates dad had a basic Montego which was fairly rapid for an old saloon car, my dad had a cavalier at that time and these cars bring back good memories for me. The only thing I would change is the wheels - going for some period MG cross-spokes.

Really good job, and imo great to see this restored.

There was close to 600,000 of these (Montegos) made. Theres less than 8,000 on the road now.

Yheres one just around the corner from me and I think they are quite a handsome car.

Yours Is lovely although the origional wheels would be better because they are getting so rare now.

My dad had a silver 1.6 D758 MOL and it was a hateful thing! The doors had a habit of closing on you and stabbing you in the back! A guy I knew abused his father's 1.3 to death, in fact I nearly met me end in it a couple of times with him driving!

Having said that, yours looks very tidy, and I have a strange fascination with cars that were on every street corner a few years ago and now, almost without noticing, they are nowhere. Montego, Maestro, Metro, Marina, Ital, etc.

I have a real soft spot for these, but agree the wheels look a touch big...

That said it looks very clean, any pics of the inside and info on the engine if it's changed at all?

Hi, thanks for the comments everyone. Here's some pics of the interior and engine bay. The car is mechanically standard. I never bothered increasing the boost even though I've had the car for 13 years. However, power may be a little more than standard as I fitted an open air filter (although I need to fit a cold air supply duct!) stainless single silencer straight through exhaust (which sounds fantastic!), aluminium intercooler, silicone hoses and iridium plugs. Performance feels pretty sharp considering the car has only just been recommissioned after a lengthy lay up. I accept that not everyone will like the wheels, but I do! I still have the originals anyway. The only exterior mods really are the paint, rear 'tomcat' spoiler, 2" lowered suspension and no boot reflector on the back, but I still have all the original parts. Future plans are maybe, upping the boost a couple of psi but I want to run it as is for a bit. The colour is actually Wimbledon Green, which was a limited edition Range Rover colour from 2000 and when the sun shines it don't half come to life!
Anyhow, here's the other pics! Click on the pic for more pics!
PS. They made about 7500 Montego Turbos and just 505 Maestro Turbos. It is thought that the Montegos are now rarer than the Maestros! Somenone has said there are about 50 Montego Turbos left on the road!

Never even knew they did a Montego Turbo. Not entirely my cup of tea but it's great to see that people are keeping rarities like this on the road and in great shape. 7,5000 down to approx 50 on the road is a bit of a shocker though!

Nice one smile

I saw a mint-looking white Maestro Turbo the other day, I can't remember the last time I saw a Montego Turbo.

Very cool, I love retro metal particularly British stuff. I must say that I don't personally think the wheel suit the car that well, they look a bit on the big side to me.
