What is the best way to send out email newsletters. We have 5000+ customers who have subscibed to our site and would like to receive our newsletters. However previous attempts to send them have failed due to the quantities involved.

I believe we have been trying to send them through our usual dynamic IP address if that helps.

David.

Best to use a proper bulk email provider for this. I've used www.yourmailinglistprovider.com in the past and they are very very good.

Your privacy statement might preclude you using a service based outside the UK and obviously you should ensure you send only to customers who have opted to receive this type of communication from you.

There's a chap on here who runs his own bulk email service and he's very knowledgeable on the subject.

This is something i have been looking at recently and wizemail is one of the sites which came up on my searches (term "e shot", first page of google organics, well done!!!), personally i wouldnt even consider trying to do it yourself if you have anything over 100 addresses.

We have a list of 78k addresses we are wanting to hit at some stage (All with permission thankyou!)

Any progress here, anything i can learn? Any PH discounts?

I'd also be interested in knowing ballpark costs. I know it all depends on size but some ideas would be good (it's too tentative to bother calling as there's some politics involved).

Hi Chaps,

I'm Mr Wizemail; from a pricing perspective think points of pence for decent volumes >30k. Under this (the majority of our clients, 80/20 applies) our highest rate is £0.0245 <2k volume.

However, we look at your business, communication and anticipated volumes and implement a fixed rate so it is easily budgeted for within the BP.

The majority of our clients pay £49-£149 but get the very same level of service of our >£3k clients and if PH is mentioned you get your ear bent about pistons, petrol and Sunday Services wink (we're all PHers here - it's part of the interview process!).

Anyhow, if you're a PHer and want email marketing advice, pick up the phone (web details in my profile) and I'll happily talk over what you're doing and how you might be able to do it better, regardless of whether you choose to use us or not.

All the best,
Don
