Does anyone know if there is a way to stop the automatic updates of apps with Android 2.2? Normally I think it is great, and a big improvement over having to select each one and manually update it. However, having been in France for the last few days and trying to conserve data usage I have found that if I put data on to check emails etc. it will also download any updates to apps, not much fun when one of them was Google Maps so pretty big. I can't find a setting other than individually stopping the update which in itself takes time and data. All suggestions welcome!

When you go into the details of each app from the marketplace, there's a check box top right which says 'allow automatic updating'. This is not set by default so if not checked, you would need to select the 'update all' button to update and use your data allowance.

I'm not running standard software, but I doubt this process is any different in the stock system.

Thanks Chris, I think the problem I have is that at some point I have selected 'update all' and it now does, without an option to deselect it temporarily, or at least, not that I have found.
