I have been contacting companies for quotes to upgrade the bhp for my slk32amg, been getting various prices from £500-£800. I have contacted this company http://www.map-tech.co.uk/default.html and he has quoted £200 for extra 20bhp and 30nm torque. This seems very cheap although i would have to drive to north lincolnshire. Does anyone have any experience of Map-Tech ?

Not heard of this company. I have spoken to DMS who no longer have the parts to do the SLK 32/ C32.

Kleemann will do it for £2250 which will include new pulley and ECU remap which will take it to 390 BHP

Hi, firstly I must declare an interest in this post as I am a partner in Map-Tech! I would just like to point out a couple of things-

1) The remap my firm would carry out would be just that a performance remap - we clearly would not be supplying a smaller supercharger pully or any other mechanical modifications to increase boost dramatically (well not for £200 anyway!).

2) The fact is I could quite easily have quoted a lot more for the remap (and might do in the future!)The truth is most remap providers do charge more for the "higher end" car, but the cost in real terms is not really much different to remap a fiesta to say a Porsche (twin turbos set ups etc may require more time though). I am guilty of this practise myself to a certain extent - but at the end of the day I am a "Petrol Head" and will on occasions offer what might be seen as a cheap deal simply because I want to remap the car in question. This was indeed the case with the AMG SLK.

I own a 480BHP RS4 and have owned a 911 C4 Cabriolet, 2 x E46 M3's, Audi TTs, Civic Type R's, Audi S4's, an Honda S2000, Supercharged MX5, BMW 330d Sport etc etc.

I have tuned/remaped most of my cars as well as all sorts of other modifications.

I would still be happy to offer a £200 remap for the AMG concerned and (as is always the case) would not charge until the customer is satisfied. If they dont like the remap or decide not to have it for whatever reason the standard map will be reinstalled and no charge whatsoever is made.

I am also fully insured for upto £1,000000.00 if my firm's work was to cause any damage (which it never has!).

Therefore we will not be able to achieve the sort of gains resulting in a 390BHP SLK for £200 but would get good value gains to circa 374BHP and 390NM of torque you are of course at liberty to pay more.

If the AMG in question is not too far away from me (near Lincoln)then I will even travel to prove that you can get good value for money. And if after you have tried the map it is not what you had hoped you are under absolutely no obligation!

Sorry if it was inapproiate to jump onto the post but I just thought I should try and say why my price may have seemed too cheap to some.

Hi been a long time lurker on here but don't post much as other's usually get in there first!

My parents had their mg zr remapped by map-tech about 2 weeks ago. They live near grimsby and the guy came to them and didn't charge any extra as he was in the area anyway. I was there while he did it. He comes across as a very genuine guy and was telling me he bought the gear to do his own vehicles initially and was so impressed with the gains he decided to set up a business.

The mg suffered before with a lack of power at low revs so you had to give it some beans to get any performance out of it. The power now comes it at abouts 3k, just where it is needed in my mind. It then pulls harder all the way to the red line. My father is very happy with it and its made the car far more driveable.

My mum has a tendency to bimble about and she has noticed a rather impressive improvement in her m.p.g. Previously she used three quarters of a tank a week and is now getting through just over half.

This isn't just some spotty nosed kid plugging a lap top into your ecu and wapping up the fuel and altering the timing. From my experience they are excellent.

As for the money, i think the guy has other business interests so doesn't rely on this as his income. He also insisted that my parents wait before its done and they were happy before he took any money off them.

I have probably banged on too much here but i can highly recomend map-tech.
