Xbox slim Forza3, The disc is unreadable on one profile help

As above really!
Bought a new xbox360 slim, used the offical xbox transfer cable moved 209 of 210 files across, not sure what the 1 file than didn't transfer across or why.

Inserted Forza 3 disc & played on an unused profile all works well, log in with my xboxlive profile the profile with the most saved play for forza 3 & other games.

As forza 3 starts loading a popup says I need a update, do the update, all starts to load, then I get "The Disc is unreadable" please clean disc, took out disc not a mark on it, cleaned it anyhow and I get the same unreadable message, tried a few more times on that profile sometines screen was dark grey & I could here the drive churning trying to read.

Reboot switch off, load the live profile and disc unreadable again, load up a spare or not often used profile game runs fine.

Peed off, as this is the only game I've tried and geting disc errors is not what I want to see.

Console is under 14days old, not only that i'm not sure I can transfer the data back from a 250g drive to the 20g original 360.

The Orginal 360 played Forza 3 fine and I want to give this orginal console to a nephew.

Anyone have any ideas, or should I just return it to where I bought it from.

Is it installed to the hard drive? Or is the installation one of the files you copied across?

If so I would reccomend uninstalling it and then trying again.

I'm almost 100% sure the game is installed on the hd, because i could play on another profile without xbox asking for disks. The Profile is my brothers he plays it most,

I sure will try that when I get the chance,it's a downer as that disc is the only one that's been in this machine.

I feel like bringing it back to the store, but now I still have the problem of getting the info back off the 250gig to the original 20gig, I believe I can buy a lead from fleabay to dump the contents to a pc; rather that the xbox one-way transfer lead.

Is there a way to just back up the game profiles and saves, then just reload the lot from scratch?
I myself rarely play xbox,so not ofait with backing up.

Yes, they have recently a couple of months ago if I remember correctly released a patch so you can use a memory stick. I managed to fit all the profiles and game saves onto a 2gb memory stick the other week when I bought a slim.

I would defo reccomend uninstalling the game and try just playing from the disk though. On the other profile you should need to have the disk in to play it. I'm stumped but defo update the thread with your progress as it sounds very unusual.

Okay cool, I'll have a go at backing up saves/profiles onto a usb.

Also I thought that xbox slim ran quite hot the box is fairly hot; hotter than I thought a newly designed box would, the xbox is sitting correctly with good airflow all round.
How hot is your slim to touch?

Just an update on the problem I had with my new xbox360 slim, tried the cache clear thing and the uninstall forza 3 but problem still persisted.

Noticed that many times the xbox just froze on the dashboard and the only solution was to press the big button on the xbox, actually that's not strictly true eventually I found that if I pressed the eject cd button on the xbox the console would jump back into life.

Got hold of a 8g usb pen and moved over profiles, interestingly your only allowed to move over approx 6 profiles their was plenty of space on the pen drive, but thats all I could move over, also moving the saves was a ballache.

In the end I re-used the official xbox transfer cable to move the contents back from the 250g drive to the orignal 20g drive, xbox say you can't do that, well I just did! I guess what they are saying is its gonna fail if you try to move more than 20gig from the 250gig drive to a 20gig drive.

As my console was less that 30 days old and purchased online from Argos, I sent an email to Argos who said if its faulty they would collect for refund or exchange, or I could take to an Argos store. So I wiped the 360 slim of all information and trundled up to Argos store, they swapped it there and then for a brand new one.

Everything's now working as it should on the new replacement, kudos to Argos for the simple swap procedure, glad I changed my original order from Play.com to Argos otherwise I would be in the realms of waiting for deliveries/repairs.

Sorry for the hijack,

I have a similiar problem, my X-Box freezes everytime I try to do a Hot Lap ect, I can only just go into the career mode.

Suggestions ?

Good to hear, I tend to buy large electronics from shops, just because online returns are a nightmare.
