The Mrs wants to quit her job, working for a local, who has up to now been a pretty good bloke. Spent a couple of days getting my car for me etc, you know...helpful kinda guy.
Thing is, she's had enough and wants out. We both know he'll try everything in the book to get her to stay, but it'snot gonna happen.
Anyone been on the wrong side of an angry local with a grudge??!!

She is on his, but could easily go onto mine. A friend has checked her visa out, and is not a "ban" type...if that makes and sense.

Cheers.

Chilli, when you say the visa 'is not the ban type' do you mean she's on a free-zone visa?

These days it's not the company that ban you but the Ministry of Labour. If she's been working on a UAE visa (not free-zone) for less than 12 months with the employer, the MOL will automatically impose a ban. There are ways around it but it can be a hassle and cost money to buy out the ban.

If the local has the right contacts he can ask for her to leave the uae for up to six months
or ban her from working for same time

Interesting, cheers gents.
Yes, we are married, but I'm not 100% what type of visa it is. She had a friend who onwns a company (and employs many here)to look up the visa on some kinda database, and she says that he can't ban her. She's not too worried about working again in the near future either.
The guy is well connected but I'm hoping he won't get too nasty over it....he's a decent enough guy, and we've always got on really well wth him. He'll be angry and dissappointed, but I wouldn't expect visits from the BIB etc...I hope.

Sorry to hear that Nick - she seemed to be really enjoying it at first!

I guess the only answer is for her to find a new employer who is more connected wink

Not too bad, I picked up a TVR T350 when I got home so that has kept me entertained for a while!

I've now got to the rose tinted view looking back on the UAE, I've managed to forget all the bad bits!

How much longer are you there for before NZ?

Ooooh lovely. I looked at those a while back.

We're off to NZ next week, just for a holiday. I've been offered a perm role here so will be hanging around for at least another year, probably 2. Looking forward to some ste weather TBH!
