Just purchased win 7 ultimate, fast machine with 4 gig memory works for 2 hours then crashes/dumps and takes ages to restart so reinstalled and still does same thing-can I get money back or install on new machine ?
Had same symptoms, after some digging it turned out memory timings for me were critical, wrote a user profile for memory timings and now its rock solid.
Check/set all bios settings to default and see how it goes. Then when it is stable, tweak one setting at a time. I'm guessing some settings are set to "performance" to eek out more speed.
