I have just collected my two kittens from the vet's after having their balls chopped off. Now one of them has started to mount the other one! This never happend before and I thought that castration was suppose to stop them wanting to mate?

Any one have any ideas if this is normal?

I believe that it will take a couple of weeks before the testosterone leaves the system, so a little humping might not be a shock.

I think I'd be acting a little weird if I'd just had my balls chopped off too. Weird, not ghey.

Maybe he has phantom ball itch and was scratching it.

Or he was trying to 'jump' over the other cat? hehe

Not all ounting in cats and dogs is down to sex drive, some of it is dominance/trying to be topcat. A disturbance to the status quo such as surgery could trigger this attempt to affirm who is in charge. Should settle down as the cats get back into their routine. HTH

Our rabbits regularly hump each other, especially if one has something the other one wants (carrots normally) It's hilarious to watch. hehe

well being as they are the cradle of life and where the testosterone comes from, removing em causes all sorts of behavioural misfires. Our rabbits still hump each other pointlessly from time to time, and the females even hump the males sometimes.
