Dialup - I forgot how painful it is...

Some chap I know asked me to check his computer as it was 'running slow'.
'I am trying to check the horses' he said

So, off I head. Get there and find the computer is from about 1998. 1Ghz, 56K external modem, 384mb of RAM, 30Gb HDD with 28Gb free(!) and a sodding great CRT! You really forget how large they are.

So with those nostalgic tones I connect...
He asks me to update his AVG and I really just gave up. Update time 4 hours!

Sometimes we forgot how far we have come on.


I now have to go back with the updates on a CD (No DVD drive) and some memory.
