Where do I stand?
Discussion
Quick question:
I rent a property, and in the last couple of weeks workmen have been into the house and undertaken repairs, which is fine, but we've not been notified about this on either occasion.
I rung the letting agents to complain - they stated we should have known and we should have been given 24 hours notice on both occasions!
Now if it continues where do I stand/what can I do, as to be honest it's not on...?
Thanks in advance.

Put an extra security lock on the door (forgot the terminology in english), it's your right afic.
They will notify you next time.
Oh, maybe get the contacts of the firm that is sending men, send them an email saying that you installed extra locks so that they should certainly call you beforehand. That way you're covered.

Well, you don't have to let them in, it is in effect trespass....... I take it you have a proper tenancy agreement? I rent a property, and in the last couple of weeks workmen have been into the house and undertaken repairs, which is fine, but we've not been notified about this on either occasion.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood, do they come when you're at home? They will notify you next time.

In that case, next time put on a coat next time you open the door, tell them you were on your way out and you weren't notified, again, they'll notify you next time.

1) You're thick enough to post this twice, whilst being told off the first time2) The comment is totally inappropriate as you're willing to accuse working men of theft, just because their company failed to call you the day before
Therefore I must conclude you're an American or at least a sympathizer.

There breaking the law if you were not there.
If you were tell them NO not without 24hr notice as per you're contract.
There is something wrong with your post.If you were tell them NO not without 24hr notice as per you're contract.
As has been said, they're not authorised to enter the property unless you have been notified. I'd have stern words with the landlord or letting agents again.
They definitely can't let themselves in at their whim, in my old flat part of the contract was that it had to be inspected every 3 months to check I wasn't trashing the place etc. On a couple of occasions the company they used didn't notify me that they were going round to inspect and on this one time they gave me an hour’s notice, I made an official complaint to the letting agent and they stopped using them.

On both counts Kindersley is right. But, you might want to also consider quitting work and going on benefits, getting your OH pregnant (at least 8 times) to claim child support, claim incapacity benefit, sue McDonalds for making you fat, change the locks and stop paying rent, moan at the NHS when they won't treat your obese daughter (D'Marion) or druggy son (Neo). Oh, and drive and uninsured, untaxed and un-MOT'd shed.Is there a 'spacker' smillie showing a lower lip being pushed out with a tongue?
No I've/we've not been in at any point...
Was debating borrowing my folks dog, but although looking scary she's soft as ste, evil bark though...
The tennancy agreement does state they must give us 24 hours notice, so I guess they are in breach of contract, but that's not going to stop them.
Nothing has been taken, only stuff repaired which is a good thing, but it's just not cricket, I mean all future plans of developing the shed into a brothel/crack den are out the window now.
