I have a Nokia 8800 Arte phone. I have put my new sim into the phone and it is asking for a security code. I do not know it. Any ideas how to disable it?

I need to get my numbers off the phone which should be okay, I will put my old sim card in and I can access the phone but to use the Nokia as a back up phone i need to disable the security lock.

Sounds like the phone is locked to your old SIM (network) - are you changing networks between the new and old SIM's? If so, you may need to get the phone unlocked...

I bought the phone sim free. It is open to all networks. For whatever reason the phone is locked to my old sim (which does not even work as when I upgraded to my new HTC desire phone Orange gave me a new Sim to use, the old Sim then stopped working).

The phone will not allow me access with the new sim. I need to somehow disable the security code.

Any ideas?

Will your new sim work in your old phone? If so, reset the code on it.

What network is the sim card for?

Is it brand new or is it out of an old phone

yeap tried 1111 and 4321 too!

I have been using the phone for 2 years. I put my new sim in and the phone asks for the security lock.

I think i put a security lock on the phone and now i can not remember the password! is there an override?

IIRC Nokia security locks can be overridden through the phone menu when the original SIM is in place. It's intended to stop SIM swapping if the phone is stolen/mislaid.

It doesn't need to be "live" on the network.

I might just take it to these unlocking huts to unlock the phone.
