got given a gold seamaster for my 21st back in the 60s and am thinking of digging it out of the drawer and wearing it. but to my mind there is no point in having a waterproof watch (particularly when your hobby is sailing as mine is), but with a leather strap.

so can anyone suggest where I might be able to find a period gold bracelet to go with the watch?

ofrei.com for all things to do with Omega like bracelets links clasps pins etc.

You need to know the case model number first though, do you need help in finding that?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but can anyone recommend a UK or European supplier for an official Omega or a good quality mesh barcelet for a Speedmaster professional?

Thanks.

Bob Frei cant offer a beads of rice bracelet, because theyve been unavailable for years. The gold plated bracelet is far less commonly required, so new old stock parts tend to sell for less than stailness equivalents now. Id expect to pay about £80 for a NOS plated bracelet on eBay, but a good deal more for a SS part. Watch the length as many of the bracelets offered now are quitr short.

After looking at the price of an 18kt bracelet, I've just gone off the idea! 2 to 3k just to be able to wear a watch thats in a drawer because its unreliable and not very accurate doesnt seem like a good idea.

There are such things as waterproof leather straps, perhaps that would be your best option?

There are loads of gold plated bracelets on there though. Wasn't the original one for your watch gold plated?

You just looked at the current model 18kt gold bracelets didn't you? hehe

Yes. The watch is 18ct not plated ( its engraved on the back which is one reason why I cant sell it) and in my experience plating is thin and wears off quickly.

What's the waterproofness like on it? It's 50 years old... has it been "serviced" recently?
