For those interested in the current range from Nikon, they have just announced their upgrade for the entry-level D3000. Unsurprisingly called the D3100 (it was either that or D3000s), it packs the 14mp cmos sensor and full 1080p (24fps) HD movie.. which I think is even better than the movie mode on the D300s and D90s?

For me the most interesting feature is the low ISO.. it has been brought down to 100, which is usually only seen on very upmarket bodies, and is depended on quite heavily by some photographers.

And the D80 fwiw. Suggests high ISO performance will be compromised

just goes to show that unless you're a billboard photographer, resolution isn't everything!
i wonder what sensor the d400/d310 (d300s replacement) is going to get... have they got something new in the pipeline? or will it just be this 14mp cmos with a few extra tricks?

Maybe one day they (and the rest) will realise they can't bring out a new camera every six months which is any better than the one before it.

Expect Limited Editions in leopard effect...

Looks like it has been crippled so the max resolution is smaller at highest quality settings.

Well theres some pics from the new 85f1.4 floating round that are 16.7mp so that should give you a clue!

D95 (or whatever) out in a week or two.

Leaves the D300s high n dry on the resolution stakes for a bit, but as said, its not all about resolution.

Max resolution 3872 x 2592
Low resolution 4608 x 3072

WTF?

Just a typo I'm guessing. 46x30 = 14mp.
