I've always liked the U-Boat range, fashion/overpriced or not (yes, definitely overpriced!) although £1225 seems a lot less than I've seen them for elsewhere?
I've never committed to spending large amounts of cash on a single watch as I know I'd damage it (or, conversely, never wear it), so for me, the craving was met by the Tauchmeister from Werner's for about £100. The only thing I don't like about the Tauch is the logo really, it's a bit messy, but I'm happy with the watch, esp for that money. It is ENORMOUS.
Another plus point for me is that I don't like left-hookers, and I think all the U-Boat range are lefties?
(I don't think Nick will mind me posting this link...?)

U boat are quite distinctive aren't they?
I saw a wide selection u boat watches in shop a while back and some of the smaller case watches looked OK to me. I think it's probably because they didn't look much like the larger ones with the huge crowns and chains and face cages etc. Probably a great second hand buy if they are your sort of thing.
I saw a smaller black one which looked OK. I can't seem to find a picture of one now though. The case sizes seem to go from 45 up to 53mm
