Hiya

I have a nice little Lady Datejust watch. It's a standard stainless steel one with a silver bezel and diamond markers and I bought it 4-5 years ago. I have the box and the documentation for it and it gets serviced every couple of years with Rolex.

I obviously insure it on my contents insurance and had it noted down for replacement purposes as being worth approximately £4,000 which I thought was about right.

However, on a trip through town today I glanced into Ernest Jones window to see the exact same watch as mine (aside from the fact that Rolex have updated the strap to a concealed clasp and mine's the non concealed) in the window for £6,200!!!

I appreciate that's the new price but should I be quoting that now as the price for replacement of my watch - Obviously I don't want to lose her - I worked bloody hard for that watch and wear it every day - but i'd like to know that in the event of losing it, i'm not under insured.

They said they couldn't value it in store which was annoying. Does anyone know of any reputable jewellers in Essex who might be able to value it for me or should I simply do as I said above and quote the like for like price brand new for insurance purposes?

Thanks in advance

S

I've just been thinking the same thing regarding insurance.

Having taken delivery of a Submariner last week I was unsure what to have it insured for especially with the new version becoming available and costing approximately £700 more than i've just paid!
