Omega Speedmaster hard to sell - why ?
Discussion
I am in the process of selling my 4 month old Speedy Pro - cannot live without a date.
I have tried a couple of watch dealers both in the UK and NL (I live in the Netherlands) and 2 specific dealers of second hand watches, one in each Country, where I was trying to trade in the Omega against a Tag Monaco, have said "no deal" and cited that Omega as a manual wind watch and non-mineral glass has limited appeal and therefore harder for them to sell.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues trying to sell a Speedmaster Pro ??

Have you tried selling via the PH classifieds section? The Speedmaster is a popular watch and I'm sure it'll sell quite quickly at the right price! You'll be able to obtain a better price through a private sale in comparison to selling via a mainstream watch dealer e.g. Watches of Switzerland ...
I've sold two watches via PH and both went within a few days

Without advertising - yes I posted it on PH Classifieds. I'll have to drop the price and try again.I've sold two watches via PH and both went within a few days
I guess it's a bit like selling a car - better private than through a dealer, but I was trying to trade-in.
The features that may not appeal to a broad range of people (and therefore put the dealers off) may appeal to the more 'watch-minded'.
I'd say TZ-UK but a) You need 1000 posts or whatever it is now and b. things are a bit quiet there anyway (from what I can tell).
Maybe somewhere like watchuseek or another more Omega related forum?

imho problems are it's advertised at £95 less than a 'real' 1969 version just sold in the classifieds and is about the price you can pick them up new with a not to difficult to source 25% below list discount. Out of interest what trade in figure are you being offered.

I guess a lot of people have shelled out on holidays over the Summer months and cannot afford £1.5K for a watch at the moment ... How long has it been advertised on PH for? I'd wait a few more weeks and see if there is any interest
Alternatively, can you not keep it and use your phone/computer to check the date Isn't RRP on this watch £2310.00? £1.5K for 4 months seems like a good deal!

TZ-UK sales corner in my experience is very good, unless something is particularly undesirable - if it's well photographed, described and priced it will sell very quickly.I'd say TZ-UK but a) You need 1000 posts or whatever it is now and b. things are a bit quiet there anyway (from what I can tell).

As with cars though an owner will often over-estimate a market value (I'm not piking nay fingers, in this case I have no idea what the market value is).
