I step out of the door this morning just as a Neighbour (well she lives down the road) is walking by with her kids

Neighbour: "excuse me"

Me "yes"

(I have to walk the same way she's going so I decide we talk and walk)

N: "why do you need two Land Rovers?"

(by this time we've exited the street)

M: "erm (stop myself saying "mind your own fking business") The yellow one is Dads and the green one is mine... why?"

N: accusatory tone "do you know how much damage they're doing to our atmosphere?"

M: "er... none, they're parked on the drive and I'm walking to work" rolleyes

N: venomous look and strides off on her merry way
"Less than one dog."

With the advantage of not having to pick up st.
should have mentioned the issues surrounding over-population....
It's always nice to see an example of someone who, because they care about an issue, have taken the time to read into it and therefore understand it, and the complex factors that surround it.

Or, as in this case, find another example of the sort of tt that spouts a load of pre-conceived bks, with a side-order of self-righteousness, proving that they know fk-all in the process.

Over-population you say? That one sounds like an ideal candidate for removal from the gene-pool, but unfortunately she's already bred...

Girl I used to work with swapped her 1.3i petrol Corsa for a 1.5 NA diesel because she thought it would be faster as it had a bigger engine
A lad I worked with had a mk5 Fiesta 1.8 diesel. Slow and tractor-like. He reckoned it would be a match for the mk5 Fiesta Zetec S I had because mine was "only a 1.6".
The 1.8 then had a turbo also, so it would have been 'st hot'... Even though it had 75bhp and was slower than a bottom of the range.

"it was a crossroad, how am I supposed to know who has right of way?" From the girl in the office with her Bank of Mum and Dad Clio, who has also admitted to hitting several parked cars and driving off.

Also mentioned to someone else that Peugeot wanted £40 for an aerial base (yes, just the base) to which she replied that sounded like a good deal and she would have paid that without questioning it

Somewhat thread-related, one of the girls in the office is complaining that it cost her something like £43 per tyre on her MINI. So expensive, apparently. irked
£43 a tyre sounds downright cheap to me (even if it's an original mini - which I rather suspect it won't be)
i'd imagine it sounds expensive to her because she thought she'd never have to replace the tyres (for whatever stupid reason that might be), and £43 is more than £0.

A friend of mine is totally baffled as to why they put speeds on it the car won't reach. Tried reasoning that they put the same speedo in faster models, car could go really fast down a long steep hill or the fact that speedos are just a part attached to the car and there is no point speccing one for each engine but she is not having it, it is something weird the manufacturers do.
She does have a bit of a point. I was borrowing some variant of Audi A4 from work the other day and the dial went up to an absurd 180MPH but the range to 80MPH was covered by about 1/3rd of the dial so it was quite hard to very quickly glance and see your speed. A real ergonomic fkup I thought - if you want to have wk fantasy top speeds on you 2.0 TDi speedo then at least have the sense to use a non linear dial.

Like this

ETA - The fkers are all limited to 155MPH tops anyway!!!

But no doubt she'll happily pay £100 for a haircut

Because she has something that resembles an old VW Beetle bonnet.

And the bloody rest!
Women have such a skewed view of money.
My wife thinks me spending £20 on a Guy Martin canvas is a waste of money, but she'll buy a load of crap for other people every month as she thinks they might like it.

Don't worry, 2.0 TDI A4s won't do 155 anyway, so you'll never actually be limited. wink

Well yes, but it means that the argument "they use this in the decent versions too" doesn't justify it either!

That is a bit absurd. I suppose it's designed for great water cooler bragging.

+1 to that last; much more fun when the speedo only went to 80mph on your Mini, and you could boast about smacking the needle on the underside of the '0' pin after your hot 1275cc build (which scaled to about 110-120) biggrin

yes going off the clock is much more impressive, my 1975 SIII Land Rover can do it woohoo but that speedo only goes to 75mph hehe
