Go to the DARE site dareuk.com and click on the 'motorsport' section. Don't do it though if you are a Lotus Elise, Esprit, Elan, Porsche 911, Carrera RS, or Morgan plus8 fans. Why? Because it shows the Dare Zetec-powered Ginetta G4 pulverising all of them. 2 of the races I watched, the G4 won by over 20 secs. Yes, that is correct. Not 2 secs, 20 secs! It's great to see the recent pistonheads website featuring this great car. The talk is always of Lotus as the greats in power and light weight, yet the all enveloping G4 weighs in at 570kg - that's 110kg lighter than the stripped bathtub 340R. Also vastly underrated is Dare's futuristic DZ which has never had the publicity it deserves. For some obscure reason, like the Dare G4, these cars never get current listings in the so-called fast motoring mags. It's as if they want you to think they don't exist. Why? The DZ is fully built only so why is it excluded? Having had the pleasure of blasting one several hundred miles, the Walklett genius of power to weight in an 'enclosed' vehicle shines through in this car. Other marques as pointed out, try and shed every last body panel so you can only enjoy if the sun shines, otherwise you get soaked to the skin. With the DZ's clever but simple softtop you keep bone dry. Its supercharged Zetec gives 210 bhp and weighs in at around the same as a 340R, and with 195lb ft of torque thats 315bhp/ton. Enough to have serious fun!
