Yachtmaster II
Discussion
Just had an email through from an old friend who said his Dad has given him an old watch and he wants rid. He knew I was into watches.
He says he thinks it's got Yachmaster II on the bezel. Rolex I say.
He says oh just give me £200.
He lives in Yorkshire so its a fair drive but I've asked him to send me some pictures to verify before I head up to have a closer look.
Question is; do I keep schtum and not tell him what its worth in reality should it turn out to be real - I mean it's his fault for coming to me and not Google
Or do I tell him?
He's an old friend that I needn't ever see again.
Argh the moral dilemma.

The answer to your question is in your choice of words. You refer to him as a friend. Would you expect one of your friends to take advantage? He says he thinks it's got Yachmaster II on the bezel. Rolex I say.

If it is genuine and he's not aware of what it is then you are either a gentleman or a cad ?. Choice is yours.
Pretty much - not sure I could do it. I thought if it turned out to be real I could take it from him at £200, sell it for him and give him the extra cash minus a cut for myself. He'd be eternally grateful and I'd take the OH for a meal somewhere nice I can't, can I.
It would appear that for $108 you can buy a watch with 'Yachtmaster II' on the front.....

Probably not the real thing.....

A YM II is not an old watch, it's not been out for long at all. I reckon banged-up fake and he's on the 'con'...
That would be funny if he's trying to pull a fast one. He can claim that he didn't realise it was a fake if he's caught out.jshell said:

That's what I reckon... If it's real, do the right thing.
If you're honest (and even though he's a Yorkshireman ) he may be thankful and give you something in return. Not 'that' type of something though...
