Off there on hols in a few weeks, where can people recommend?
(Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal/Vancouver/Jasper/Banff)

Would like to go to a couple of truly good restaurants as a treat, and then some other 'good value' places.

Thanks,

Martin.

Vancouver : head around to English bay and try 'The Boathouse' ~ Great seafood in there.

The west coast is great for fish if you like that. Fantastic salmon and Halibut.

Also just along the street is the 'Banana Leaf'. Its a Malay restaurant which is very good ( need to book at the weekend) although its only small.

To be honest, there are so many great places, you are spoiled for choice. The standard is exceptional, so don't worry....You won't have any trouble finding them.

Use the local internet and local guides. They are very informative.

Enjoy.

my one piece of advice would be dont bother with Tim Hortons, however desperate you may be for a coffee, hang out for the next place.

I guess it depends what you like to eat, on the west coast you should find some great seafood, in the montreal there should be some nice french stuff

there are lots of chains restaurants which can be ok if you dont mind that kind of stuff. My Kids like going to "Montana's" which is ok for a burger and steak joint, their apple crumbe served in a pyrex jug is tasty.

Earls and moxies have a good folowing with canadians (but they are not noted for their delicate palates). It might be different in the places you are heading, but its difficult to get a good balti in canada and chinese food is quite different to uk chinese, so i wouldnt bother, stick with surf and turf
