D5 V50 on a 58 plate - turbo intermittently working

Strange fault on the V50 at the moment. It only seems to be allowing full boost occaisionally, most of the time it feels as flat as a pancake. The temperature gauge also seems to be working only intermitently too, and the fan seems to be working overtime.
Upon hearing the fan roaring away constantly, I had a look at the coolant, and it was black, which I thought was a bit unusual...
It's just under 2 years old, and has done 71k miles. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?
The dealer rang and left a message to say they had ordered a part for it, but didn't say what was wrong. I'll find out more tomorrow.
