My son flipped his kart at Forest Edge on saturday and has damaged his CK6 helmet.

I've spoken to Phoenix Distribution who'll x-ray it and check it out and repair the broken visor mounts, but they can't repair the damage to the outershell (assuming its still safe to use)

- does anyone know anyone who would be able to fill/repaint the helment and bring it back to new - preferably in the hampshire if poss?

Or else anywhere else that can check the helmet safety and do the repairs all in one?

Seriously - buy a new one.

They are suppsed to dissipate the energy of the accident - seems the shell has done it's task. A replacement is the only safe course of actions - no matter how fancy the original helmets paint job...

Thanks FWDracer - to be honest thats what I was thinking - its only plain white but pheonix say they can't do cosmetic repairs.
Looking at prices to get it painted (if its found to still be safe) I think its best just to pay the £320 for a new one

the foam lining will be compressed, if there is another impact the foam will all ready be cracked, the result is not worth thinking about. buy a new lid

Now Im possibly the worlds tightest bloke, but if a Helmet has damage to the outer shell even I'd put it it in the bin.

now I know technically maufacturing a new son is fairly straight forward and even fun, but it does take quite a long time. So probably cheaper in the long run to buy a new helmet and not risk the son you already have !!!

new helmet on order!

I could send back to arai for x-ray and get it repaired if deemed safe, but buy the time you add cost of painting (£200-£300) it makes more sense to get a new one - at least I know if it ever happens again he'll be as safe as possible.

You could at least save yourself the cost of repainting - IMHO a painted helmet does not make you go any faster!
