Hello all,

I'm thinking of fitting winter wheels & tyres to my 2008 E320cdi Sport, especially as I normally do a couple of ski trips to the alps.

Anyone any advice on availability of steel rims, where they can be sourced, what size fits etc etc?

Thanks

I'm thinking of doing similar - I believe the best way to get the tyres (and cheapest) is from mytyres - they'll send them from Germany or Lithuania or similar, but you'll get a humungous selection. Try going into a UK tyre supplier and I suspect they'll look at you as if you are insane.

As to the wheels - I don't know. Get a cheap set of alloys off Ebay?

I'm not sure you'll get steel rims that fit. Doesn't the Sport model have larger brakes? As the other chap says, your best bet is probably to get a set of used alloys off Ebay.

Have a look in the handbook, it will list the wheel and tyre options that would have been available when the car was new. My w210 has 15's for the winter and 17" for the summer months.

I seem to remember this cropping up last winter and various PHers making comments about notifying your insurance,as the car could be classed as modified. As the handbook will have a recommendation for winter tyres I can't see why an insurance company should get funny about the issue.

I got mine off eBay for my E220.

They are the standard "classic" wheels I think but make sure you get the right model.
Look a but crap but all people say is "Is that a different car?" hehe
