I had the S3 through it's MOT yesterday, very nervous about the result as it was hunting at idle between 1200 - 2000rpm. The testers did the emmissions check and said that he had noticed me checking the engine before it went in, the reading was 0.13% CO when it should be 1 - 1.3%.
Would inlet leaks account for such a low reading? How do you richen the mixture on the 2.9 V6. Could this explain the reason for the engine running hot?

The testers were brilliant, I had an earth fault on the rear lights and they both helped sort it out and delayed the paperwork until after we got it going so that I did not have to pay for a re-test D:

Over weak mixture can make it run hotter, more importantly it lead to possible damage . I would have thought it would have to a fair intake leak to drop it down significantly and there would be an audable whistle/sucking noise AIMHO.
