And your bit of the Mids better be convenient for Worcs...
Nottingham, big green trucks (29 of 'em out every day). Can't really say much more due to the advertising thing on PH.Wing Commander said:
I have recently discovered screwfix. Good prices and convenient if local (7 days a week)
Doesn't matter if they're not. Delivery service is superb. Order before 6, with you the next day. Delivery is also free if you spend over £50 I think. An absolutely brilliant company to deal with. Superb range, great prices and great customer service.

Sounds bloody ace, where do I sign?
Just thinking exactly the same thing. On the aerial photo, that is what a five and a half acre yard looks like, and yes that is an HST on the railway line. At the top of the picture, the funny triangular light green building is our Insulation Yard.

For paint I simply find whichever B&Q type place has an offer on and buy there I've found that cheaper than all the usual trade places.
Also I always buy white and mix a bit of colour with it rather than buy the 2.5 litre tins.
However after try Wickes white paint some yrs ago which took 5 bloody coats to cover plaster I now only use Dulux or Crown.

fk me, I thought it was some super duper new company with a new take on customer care.
Perhaps it's been dragged into the 21st Century at last.
Nice to see Bakers is moving to a more suitable premises.
Screwfix are one of the better stores I visit (of all types)
they have had no stock maybe 1 time out of like 30 odd times that i have been - in which case they saud they could get it in the next day
if you phone them up they can do a stock cheque.
some of the builders merchants around here are an absolute joke but the worst thing for me is that they are not very customer friendly if you are not a tradesman who knows exactly what he wants.

And if you are visiting a Screwfix store, just don't rely on the item being in stock......
Go online check stock, place order, drive to shop and pick it up never failed for me. It's a 40 mile round trip to B&Q so I don't go there often. The trade paint shops in my local town are excellent and always helpful The builders merchants are good as well though not as cheap as screwfix. Screwfix is pretty good all things (including coverage & product range) considered but you do have to watch their prices - they can be even more £££ than Homebase now they're in B&Q's clutches!
I find Toolstation variable - but if they have what you want they can be good - they seemed to go through a phase of price matching Screwfix but now seem to differentiate more.
Recently discovered TLC Electrical Supplies - weird range and a terrible website but can annihilate Screwfix et al on pricing ... sometimes
Tools - quite like FFX - and they seem to be the cheapest/close enough in general.
PS - they're no where near proper trade prices!

You will never get proper trade prices though, as you need to be buying enough to be to have a negotiated price list which even fulltime tradesman won't do enough to get, the advantage is more that they will have much better stock levels and range. For the more common stufflike Multifinish, Wickes will be as cheap or even cheaper.
Also fleebay is very cheap for hand/power tools as lots of reputable online and physical merchants compete on there, cheaper than screwfix.
