Well, to start with I'm not at work today, yippee Went out to change her starter motor this afternoon, fully expecting to have to stop partway through due to problems and bad light. Guess what, all sorted in 45 mins!!!!! This is unheard of, a job on her taking a reasonable amount of time Rewarded her with both a wash and a quick drive! Might even go out again in a bit, wahey

Sorry, but I'm easily pleased

Well, I went straight out the door after that for a Ooooo, I do like that noise, yum yum, bought her some petrol and had a bit of a short wander. Things still in bedding/settling in stage so not too far. Get back and think hmmm, steam, hmmm, ar$e, guess I need a new rad then, bu$$eer, 'ickle hole in the top of it. Still, it's only an 'ickle one so I'm still gonna have another drive

I need a too, I'll use the holey rad as my excuse.

Hope the weather doesn't do anything nasty at Donny....

cheers
Dave

G'day Steve
I know, it's most annoying! I'm very tempted to put some Radweld in it, but I've never liked the idea of putting that gunk in my cooling system! Hmmmm, wonder just how much cash I can spend on a new one!

She feels a bit bouncy atm too, think I need to have words with my shock adjustments!

Other than that all seemed to feel quite good and solid and did I mention the lovely noise

Where is the N Yorks meet these days, I kinda lost track? Back to Thurs evening now, isn't it?

Don't use Radweld,it only cost me £130 for a re-core on mine.Is yours a special?

The meets are at Wighill on thursday, hard for me to make it now it's changed from Sunday
When you want to go give me a few days notice and i will do my best to be there
But the runs out will start soon
The sound is adictive

I know, I don't like it either, just tempted me for a moment! If I understand radiators anatomy correctly it's not the core which is the prob. It's the tank bit, the lump at the top with pipes attached, not the bit in the middle. Don't think it's anything out the ordinary as far as Wedges go.

I got too used to just hearing her on the driveway. Turned key today and after a good lot of weeks standing she started after a couple of seconds BRMMMMMM Ooooo My window works too now so I could even wind that down for a better listen as she brmmm'ed along!

I need a

Was going to go out in mine today, but I dozed off on my bed and when I woke up it was too late to take her out...

Still - never mind there is always Sunday for another chance of going out for a drive...

Well, Mr Radiator shop man had a quick look and advised against repair as I'd prob soon end up with new hole somewhere else. It's not too well generally! So......either I spend an obscene amount on an alloy rad which in all honesty isn't necessary(but looks tasty ) or I attempt to find another to fit, hmmmm.........ideally need one with a cap as my baby doesn't have an expansion tank, though I guess that's not too tricky to solve......

Dave, I think it was a standard Granada rad with the outlets soldered 180 degrees out, or some such.
Would certainly be a starting point anyway.
Just had the fans off the Esprit; they are Ford units (part starts 77FB... isn't that the Fiesta? ) but the tripod frames that support the fan motors are rotten, so I've hand-fabbed some new ones (rough as a badger's arse, but you can't see them once they're on ) - just need a coat of Smoothrite and pop-rivetting back into the plastic surround and Fanny is, allegedly, your auntie.

Cars, dontcha luv 'em...

Cheers Ian, might see if the the local factors have one in for a nosey.....never tried soldering, wonder if I could weld a little plate round my existing rads hole......

I'm intrigued by this Lotus, good luck, any photos?
