Hi anyone familiar with the Borla Super Street Performance exhaust. I was honing in on Corsa but I see USAutomotive are now importing Borla exhausts, although not sure if they have this one.

It had one an a vette that i test drove, not sure whicj model, but it was bloody loud!!! Very deep throated but it was loud all the time, even cruising bit too obtrusive for my liking.

Seems to be the same omments as on the US boards. Use the Corsas if you drive regularly or over long distances, Borlas only if you can stand the noise and the booming at cruising speed.

Bought the Boral Cat back system for our C5, even managed to get it in a Suitcase, as it splits in to 4 Parts. The boys at Ecklers where a bit stunned when i said I'd buy it only if it fitt my suit case. Got it in wrapped in old towels. Customs must have opened it at some time just to look, as tag was broken. But got back ok. Sounds lovly, and not to load below 102db.

Looks like they've copied the Corsa tips quite a bit from that angle.

Hmn, now they look a tad loud. Is your Z06 a daily driver or for the sunshine?

I met a Dutch guy at Le Mans last year who had modified his stock exhaust. Had pipes routing around the mufflers and butterfly valves to route the exhuast either around the mufflers, or through them as normal, operated by a small lever in the cabin. Sounded sensational!

I remember the car! Also that other one with 2 bits of aluminium trunking tied on with string!

It is a daily driver and it will soon be "upgraded" so it will be one F**k off noisy Z06.

Then again it does have to share the garage with a Viper with a Borla so it will need to be louder

It will also be trying to compete with Cliffy's which will be a little more difficult!

Will changing the X-pipe or Y pipe whatever you call it add to the noise aswell???

I had a BORLA cat back exhaust put on last month. It's very loud but makes the right noise for a C5!
The complete system from US Automotive was £600 inc VAT
not bad Ecklers charge $799 before shipping & its the four pipe stinger system my old is on E bay right now if anyone needs a spare!
I think the back pipes improve the look makes it look more mean.

Hi could you tell which spec you chose. As far as I can see there are 2 main types, the original street performance and the new S type. So choices seem to be

original cat back system which looks like the GM system with 4 tips - called street performer
ditto and with a replacement resonator - called the super street performer
new S type with 2 tips or 4 tips round or 4 tips oval

Looking at the pricing in the USAutomotive catalog, I guess you went with the S type as the street performer starts at£750 + vat.

And

I looked under the car the other day and could not see a resonator. Am I being dumb or what?

Also you made a point about the back pipes. Any chance you have a digital camera and could send me a pic?

What are the advantages or disadvantages of replacing the lightweight titanium exhaust with a presumably heavier stainless steel exhaust?

Thanks for that Neil. Seems to me that the Stinger has a deper sound over the Corsa; to my mind which is what a V8 should sound like.

I suggest you visit "Blue Flame Exhausts" (they make the standard exhausts for TVR's and the bikes competing in the "World Superbike" races). They do custom car exhausts made from stainless steel.

They made me one - circa £500. NO SILENCERS.
