Where do all the used Mercs go ?
Discussion
I want an Elegance C220 auto estate with navigation and leather not in silver less than 40k miles 08 onwards. Or even better a 220BE
Have bean watching trader and been round a few dealers but nothing doing. Where do they all go ? If I wanted the equivalent BM or Audi there are loads to choose from Every other C estate seems to be a silver sport, Only thing can think is they are all on 3 year lease or elegance drivers hang on to their cars longer than those that buy the sport.

I'd wager not many Elegances get bought from new, meaning not many on the used market, and Elegance does tend to be more the 'older gent' spec (no offence intended) therefore I'd imagine the owners may do lower mileages, look after them, and hang onto them for longer.
As for trying to get one that's not silver, I bought my previous c-class in 2006 and the salesman was so pushy in getting me to choose either silver or black it was unbelievable, he basically told me if I chose another colour it'd be unwanted and worthless come trade-in time!

I believe its because the Elegance isn't a popular trim, so not many of them where pre-registered or let out on short term-leases etc so the few that are around will be owned by private keepers and on longer leases/ pcps.
Just get an SE with a few options or a Sport, plenty more about and more of a market for them when you come to sell on.
EDIT: Having said that there are some about, I can spot 5 C220 CDI Elegance Estates on Autotrader, all the new shape with the obligatory automatic gearbox, priced between £19,624 (carshop nottingham) and £28,845 (mb south west). Saying it needs to be silver with COMAND and proper leather is a bit fussy as its a used car so you can't choose the exact spec, for that you really need to buy new. COMAND is an easy retrofit anyway, and all Elegance C-Classes have full Artico which although not 'real' leather is near enough the same and most people can't tell the difference.
