Prompted by the thread on the satellite version, does anyone have the terrestrial one of these PVRs?

Interested to hear how the SD picture quality is, and how the media browsing works (eg will it read raw DVD rips?)...

Picked one of these up around 2hrs ago and will be setting it up shortly. I'll let you know how I get on. I have the 9300T model currently but want to take advantage of HD Freeview when it's available to me in March.

Cheers smile

Are you going to connect it up to a network at home? Be good to see what the media browsing screens are like, and as mentioned whether it can play straight DVD rips.

Have also heard that the SD picture quality can be a bit hit or miss.

Hopefully you're like me and will have played it fully before the end of the day as I feel a gadget purchase urge coming on and am out "shopping" tomorrow with the Mrs.

Now I can actually access this posting (there seemed to be problems over the weekend) I can report that, broadly, I'm very happy with it. Main points:

1. Very easy to set up and even easier if you're used to Humax products.
2. Some have reported issues connecting to their network; no issues for me though not yet tested anything over the network as just been too busy.
3. Be aware that the antenna loop through (so that the TV still receives a signal with the Humax box in stand-by) is not activated by default - read the manual! I have an issue that with the Humax box on and selecting 'TV' rather than 'AV' in other words taking the Humax box out of the loop (except for the loop through), results in a message of 'No Signal.' As soon as I put the box into stand-by the picture magically appears! Phoned support once and will be doing so again now that a Factory Settings reset hasn't cured the issue.
4. The EPG is a step change from previous Humax boxes - far better.
5. The overall picture quality is excellent though I don't get Freeview HD until March so unable to comment on that.
6. I preferred the design of my former PVR9300T and the display was easier to read.

I'll have to get back to you on the raw DVD rips as this isn't something that I routinely do.

Regards

I've been using one of these for a few weeks. It's a superb piece of kit. Does exactly what it says on the tin very well indeed. You can even transfer your recordings onto a USB stick and watch them on a computer which is cool. I don't hesitate for a moment in recommending it to you.

Haven't yet done the TV portal thing and haven't yet connected it to the home network as I already have an Apple TV for that 'stuff'.

Incidentally, programable remote works very nicely as well even with the Apple TV!

BTW I'm using it on SD only at the moment and it's a very good quality picture on a 32" screen. Best technology purchase for a while.

Thanks chaps.

Have heard elsewhere that streaming MP4s across the network can be problematic, which'd be a shame.

Sound promising generally though.
