is all I have until Wednesday next week as my oven decided to nearly start a fire at 3am the other morning. RIP Tricity Princess....

I need to feed 2 adults, a 14 month old and a 2.5 year old until Wednesday and am looking for some ideas please. Last night we had Georged sausages and microwaved new pots and baked beans.

Buy a cheap slow cooker. You can get them for under £20 plus they are cheap to run, I roast lamb in mine as well as the obvious, chilli, curry and stews.

Whatever you do, don't test how warm the "bun warmer" bit is by putting your hand on it.

I have a small camping Gaz stove ( for when I go camping) which is always handy as a power-cut back-up. Slow cooker is good for casseroles...just takes a long time biggrin

I'm more concerned as to how your cooker nearly caught fire in the early hours of the morning - when most folk would be fast asleep.

You can do mashed potatoes in the nuker. Works very well.
You can also nuke veg like broccoli, cauliflower, broad beans, peas very successfully.

The George will do any meat you like so long as its thin! So George'd chicken breasts, pork chops/steaks, steaks like rib-eye. You could also do medallions of pork tenderloin easily - they'll go down well.

Do you have a hob or are you really down to just the George and the nuker?

If you've got a slow cooker that could provide variety. Casserole or curry!

You can also microwave rice so you can do curry and rice! Mmmm.

Thanks guys. I do have a slow cooker! How could I forget about that! Brilliant, can cook some half decent grub now smile

The whole cooker/oven is fecked as when you turn the power on, the oven comes on full bore even though the dial is switched to off.

If you like to brown your meat before putting it in slow cooker, use the George.

when i moved into my house, i bought a range cooker and ripped the old kitchen out. it was 18mths before i fired up that range, and ate every meal in that time from my gaz stove and microwave. i got to the point where i could even make a reasonable impersonation of roast spuds.
