That pretty much sums it up - god knows how many thousand of miles of mountain biking, trails and roads between then and now, and today picked up 4 punctures (2 thorns and a pinch) inside 2 miles!
Took me about 45 minutes to remember how to fix a puncture / change a tube
Suffered my first one a few years back whilst racing in a competition. Was doing 30mph down hill over flint when all of a sudden the tyre just blew & threw me straight off. Aprrox 2 inch tear in the rear tyre as a result!
