Can anyone give me a bit of info regarding my Sat Nav.
I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to these things and owning a TVR for the last 6 years this is my first car with such a luxury!
I have a 2004, 53 plate SL55 and was looking to get the europe disk for my car. I am heading to Germany for a few months and have no idea what disc I need to buy. I'm sure I could visit the dealers, and i'm sure I would pay a heafty premium in doing so compared to what I have seen on offer on ebay and the likes.

Any info appreciated,
Cheers
Mark

There's a place in Scotland does them (I cannot remember their name - but they are prominent on Google searches) and you can get used ones. I got a 2005 Europe CD nav set off them for 25 quid - I can handle them being a bit out of date for that kind of cheapness!

Pretty certain you need a Teleatlas DX CD - when you power the car on see if the SAT NAV screen shows a DX logo when it displays the warning about obeying the rules of the road etc. If so then any Blaupunkt TeleAtlas DX CD should work. Ebay for the best deals, luckily these tend to be very cheap £30 should bag you a 2008/2009 CD but they are country specific so you will track down a German one i.e there is not enough space on a CD for a complete European map. Mine for instance has a UK and Ireland CD in it.

As long as its DX based it should be fine. That disc would go in my CLK
Hope your enjoying the SL55. Sounds like your on the same trend as me. Had a Chimaera and then a Griff 500, before buying a CLK55 AMG. Currently in a CLK320 Convertible as I missed have a convertible and the AMG power was going to lose me my licence. The Griff was all about blasting away from the lights, but once past 70 the AMG would just disappear over the hill - but that was the problem, you would look down at the speedo and gasp! and yet it would be smooth and quiet

Quite enjoying the Merc so far, as you say.... comfortable and fast but a sure license looser haha!
The Cerb I had was similar, I used to blast away making a lot of noise and tyre smoke but never used the top end speed so much even though it was there, I do quite miss the raw fun of the cerbera sometimes!
