What an excellent road, it really suits my Lancia Integrale Evoluzione. I have done this route several times, done it at night once as well. Definately not for the fainthearted. I managed to do the 20miles in 35mins

I tend to go ...

- Beulah -> Abergwesyn
- up the Staircase
- along the Llyn Brianne Road (fantastic)
- back again to the mountain road
- over to Tregaron
- to Devil's Staircase on the 4343
- Cymystwyth to Rhayader on the Elan Valley road

About 2 hours of fun.

Justin
Give me a shout next time your doing that run, i fancy it. Wont be able to go around the corners as quick as you but will make it up on the drive away from them.

is the devils staircase a B or an unclassified road? i found it on the map on our last trip to Wales but it did not look too promising for a loon in a Porsche.

the best roads we found are the mountain B road that runs north from Brecon (across the artillery range!) and the 6049?? the mountain road on the western end of the Brecon Beacons national park - absolutely magic that one particularly if you do it west to east....

Then there is the main road from brecon through to Llandridnod, wide sweeping A roads. Or the beautiful roads around the Elan Valley (and the mountain rd again!)

hmmm, maybe i get up early tommorow?
