HI.
I'am just about to pick up a 55 plate clk, and as it will be parked outside,
I was wondering if they will be any problems with the side windows freezing up when we get the bad weaather & not droping when the door is oppened.

They will freeze up in extreme cold, as I found out on mine last year. It's not so much a problem when opening the door but more so when closing again, as the window doesn't shut properly against the seal unless it is slightly open. I found that by pouring a small amount of water at indoor room temperature (not hot) over the window edges before opening the door, it made things a lot easier.

It can be impossible to actually open the door in very extreme cold and this was the only way I could get into the car at times.

Which engine has yours got? They are very well built and still chuffed with mine after 3 years of ownership from new.

Hi Brent.

Thanks for the reply.

The car is a 320 cdi with the sports pack, in metallic black.

I've been looking for one for a while now & this seems a realy nice car with a good spec.

Picking it up on Saterday.

Regards

John.

320 cdi, good choice. Same engine as mine. The torque of that V6 diesel is just epic, and in a fairly small car like the CLK, the acceleration is relentless, especially when you want to overtake at cruising speed, when many lesser cars are already running out of puff. Only trouble is that even with the ESP, you will probably find the rear tyres don't last as long as they could as it is very easy to break traction from a standing start.biggrin

As a point of interest for you, my car has been utterly faultless over 3 years and 48000 miles, and I do mean absolutely no faults whatsoever! Despite what some naysayers will try to tell you, Mercedes have definitely got to grips with their quality and reliability issues from 10 or so years ago. Enjoy your new purchase.

Oh and one other thing - Obsidian black metallic looks great on the CLK. Not that I'm biased in any way! wink

Yes i'am realy looking forward to driving the car & I hope it will be relible as I would like to keep it for a while.
I guess your car is black as well, it should keep me quite cleaning polishing.
You can't beat a clean black car for looks.

John.
