I'm pretty sold on the Onkyo '608 to sit between a Sky or freesat box and our TV (eventually a projector too).

But which speakers?

The Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 5.1 Look great, unobtrusive and at a good price.

The Q Acoustics 2000 cinema pack are rather less subtle and half as much again - do they deliver that much more than the cheaper option? What Hi-Fi actually suggest they're a little soft.

Hmmm...

I have a 607 and matched it with a set of these: KEF 3005SE, they are absolutely fantastic and I don't regret over spending on them at all.

ETA: A friend has the 2000 set for his and is also very pleased, though I haven't really heard it properly.

I've got an Onkyo 605 with some small Jamo A102s and it sounds pretty good.

I can't watch anything though as the TVs were stolen on Monday

Which are very good I think, small unobtrusive, but excellant sound quality for the price.

I can't watch anything either though as the Monday before our TV was stolen as well frown

I have the Onkyo 876 and Kef KHT 2005.3 speakers. A really good match and sounds great.

I've just bought the Onyko 608, a 50" Panny Full HD plasma and these speakers - I went for the Jamo C 605 floorstanders with a sub 650, C 60 centre speaker and C603 bookshelf speakers.

I have a large and odd shaped room (think high ceilinged square shape with another square room offset back and to the left (as you look at the Tellybox) as well as marble floors, so will be interesting to see how it sounds!

I read Onkyo are good sound but poor build quality? The models a few years ago were breaking down? Still the case?

Who are Onkyo anyway? Are they a budget company?

I've had mine three years and had no issues at all.

Build quality seems perfect, it's not the best amp to look at it but everything is functional and easy to use.

I would say they are more mid-range than budget.

Pricing is very competitive though. They quite often get compared with Denon

Four years and counting. No issues yet.
