Right,

I guess this is the thread to argue about New Vegas and ask what the heck to do etc..

I'll start the ball rolling:

How the hell do I increase my HP? Is it JUST stimpaks on this one? I am using the purified water and nutfruit and odds and sods that used to work in Fallout 3 BUT despite it saying my HP will go up by say 2 it doesn't!?!??

It goes up over time.

Most items will say something like HP+1(20)

use the item and when you come out of the Pip_Boy it increases by 1 point each second for 20 seconds for instance. Your HP doesn't change while you are still in the Pip-Boy.

I'm not sure what to think yet, the RPG elements are certainly increased over Fallout 3 and it seems there is a general improvement in quality.

The Guns seem abit powerful and easy to hit with though, the Varmint Rifle and 9mm Pistol can be fired randomly and pick-up hits many of them critial.

A major improvement is the 'True Iron Sights' its only a small thing but it seems so much better than the slight zoom in F3.

Also I am playing on Hard mode and I haven't used a single stim-pack, died at all or had any shortage of ammo, on hard mode in F3 if you just wandered around the waste land at the start with crap guns and low stats you got hammered by creatures and raiders within seconds. I can see it getting much harder though.

The only thing I don't really like is that books now give you a temporary 20+ boost to a stat rather than a permenant 1+ point increase. I liked the idea that you read a book and learnt something.

Apparently I'm a Thug with a Heart according to my early interactions.

You can find books like Lying, Congressional Style which gives a permanent increase.... Just did that!!

Ah ok so the HP increases slowly after time then, fair enough.

Oh, and looking at some of the recipes you can cook up - fun!! Just made a powder bomb thingie...

Yeah only thing is you have to work out how much HP you'll need and then remember how much aid you've taken so you dont waste it.

I'm glad about the books, I thought it was an inspired little thing in Fallout 3.

Ah yes no worries there, I just do that and waste a couple if needs be!

Anyone know if the "pre-war books" will be sought after by a character? I am carrying about 20 of them, mindful of Fallout 3!!

Running, scared for my life from some Gecko things last night, only looked like a couple of little ones and then loads of bigger ones started running at me.

hehe

I seem to have fallen out quite badly with the 'Powder Gangers', they were showing as red marks on my HUD thingie so I engaged them in a firece battle, nicked all their stuff and carried on. Relations with them have somewhat 'deteriorated' since, which is a shame as I want to go visit their compound/prison thing as part of a mission. Either I go back to an earlier save which is hopefully early enough, or is there another way to charm them round so I can go round to play? I don't want to be falling out with factions so early on in the game, especially if it means certain missions or part of missions are blocked.

Also, down in Primm, I seem to have picked up a mission which is something to do with taking a robot somewhere. When I follow the marker it takes me into a building where there is some form of broken robot lying on a bench, but it wont let me pick it up? Any thoughts?

Loving the game so far, this is going to be a massive time sponge for me. I think you have to be quite careful what you are wearing too, I stumbled into a building earlier wearing an opposing factions gear and they just started attacking me.

I wonder when you get your first pad to dump all your gear in?

It seems easier to start off than fallout 3 - no ammo shortage for example. You just have to be careful not to get in a huge fight where you are easily overwhelmed!

Because you are using a crap gun, and you are crap at using it. Wait until your skill improves, you can repair the gun to a higher standard, make some st hot ammo for it,

I even used Hollow Point rounds and headshot some of the Powder Gangers and the fecker still didn't die within 3 shots !!

Am I the only one who seems to be getting attacked by 4-5 people at a time and getting massacred? And my word they can throw dynamite too!!

I am really, really, really rubbish at this game (but absolutely loving it!). I'm playing on normal + hardcore and I must have died about the same number of times in the first few hours as I did in the whole of FO3 frown I love the fact that pretty much all the junk you can pick up is useable in some way or other.

Is anyone else with a PS3 finding the game stutters & crashes quite a bit? It's crashed 4 times on me so far frown
