How hard!

The game has had it's difficult moments so far, but this is like nothing else in the game. I just got into Fort Drakon with my party and as soon as I enter the area a fight starts.

I have

3 archers to my left.
3 archers to my right.
A dragon comes in.
2 or 3 hurlock mage things.
A lot of grunts
3 shrieks
some little hurlock enemies with axes.

My entire party dies in about 1 minute to 1m30.

I have Alastair, Morrigan, my PC (rogue) and Wynn.

I'm getting absolutely obliterated and I don't know what to do.

I have about 60 hours in the game and it looks like in the last 60 hours I haven't specced my party correctly for this last level and I don't have a chance. I don't want to start again though!

Wynn is useless, about 10 seconds into the fight and all her mana is gone and she does nothing for the rest of the fight.
Alastair my tank dies really, really quickly. His health bar goes from full to empty in one swoop and he is always the first to die. Leaving me with Morrigan (who has no decent area of effect spells and a useless Wynn who just stands around until the rest of the party is dead and then she gets killed last).

Help!

Can't remember too many details about the actual fight myself, but I remember facing lots of smaller waves, I had a warrior class that did a fair amount of damage, so ensured I had a character along that could heal and just hacked through everything as quickly as possible, drinking plenty of potions and the like when necessary. Have you got any mana potions that you can give to Wynn in order to ensure she can keep healing you once her mana runs dry?

Not many mana potions no.
Not many health potions either.
No materials for crafting either ( I gave everything away to the allied crates... Don't know what it did though..)

I've just spent a while changing their tactics, the default tactics seem a bit crap!

Stopped my tank from using Berserk mode for one and set Wynn to use mana potions when her mana drops low (why this isn't default for a mage I don't know!)

None of the enemies drop health potions either! But a lot drop money, why I don't know. The whole city is like a hell on earth type scenario so I doubt I'm going to come across any open stores!

I'm trying to conserve as much potions as I can for the final boss, I think I'm going to need them. I only have 1 large potion, 1 medium and about 15 or so lesser health potions.

Could be a tough one then. Not sure if you can get out and buy supplies from anywhere, might be worth checking if you can? I can remember the final boss being very tough, wasted a lot of mana reviving two of my characters that kept getting killed and went through a lot of potions in the process.

If its the area I remember - you trigger a trap at which point you get ambushed.

You can try sending in one party member to trigger the trap, then fall back to the rest of the party in the previous room. This means you can take on most of the enemies one at a time, keeping mages out of the way and setting traps at the doorway if required.

Finally did it!!

The archdemon is dead, what a fight that is. I had to call in every army to help and even then it took forever, it just wouldn't die.

I found some runes I wasn't using in a weapon I didn't have equipped, +10 physical resistance x2, +15 physical resistance paperbag Equipped them in Alaistairs weapon, he also had large spirit resistance, but I was popping potions like sweets.

Felt good when it finally died though, didn't think I was going to get there.

Bit annoying though, throughout the game I killed 983 darkspawn, only needed another 17 for the 1000 darkspawn killed trophy!

Only managed to get to the boss by using Morrigan and holding back the party, luring enemies back to the party and controlling it a bit more. Probably cheating a bit, but I just couldn't do it by running in and managing the huge fights. I was getting annihilated.

Good news - not cheating at all, perfectly valid tactic. The enemy AI actually use this very tactic right at the start of the game against you...
