Hi all

My PS3 has just crashed, i have taken the HDD out and put it into the 2nd slot on my laptop. It installed and 'Device Manager' says it is working properly and it shows on the device manager list, but how do i accesss it and the information on it?

This might work:

Right click on 'Computer'
Click on 'Manage'
Click on 'Disk Management'
Right click on 'Disk x' (appropriate disk drive)
Click on 'import foreign disk'

Aha! We might be getting somewhere, i can see the disc in on the list but it wont give me any options apart from 'Initialize Disc'

What will this do and will i loose any of the info on the disc?

Device Manager has found the disk physically, but it appears the PS3 filesystem isn't Windows compatible so it cannot read the data.

When it asks you about initializing the disk it would then wipe it, so leave that alone.

if your trying to clone your HD across to a new one i don't think it's going to work.

From what i have read online, when you install a new HD into the PS3 it forces you to format it as it puts an encryption thingy (yes very technical) onto the drive.

It is about online if you have a wee google

Aye, its all gone whatever i do. Uou are correct, as soon as you put the HDD into anything but its original PS3 it will force you to format it.
