W210 alternator going after 5months?

I had my alternator replaced about 5months ago, the part was from mercedes and was fitted at a friends garage.

The car has been fine until a few weeks ago, when it would struggle to start first time, or you could hear it wasnt turning over as quickly as before. then the car wouldnt start, so
I thought it may have been the battery, so i replaced that and it was fine for 2 days. then when i was driving and whenever i put the main lights on an 'ESP ABS' light would come on. the car would struggle to start and would now have to be jump started every 4th time i try to start it.

When i was last driving, the power steering went when i was driving, then the lower power/voltage sign came up, and the speedo was going crazy, then all the electric failed, and then the car basically lost power, and could not go over speed humps at all..

any idea what it could be? only thing i could think of is alternator regulator perhaps?

If the power steering is tightening up it might be the serpentine belt slipping, the belt tensioner could be knackered.

make sure there is not a diesel leak from the pump, it in turn destroys the belt and it will slip under load, if thats ok, battery any good? possible CAN fault.
