Stacks of emergency services activity around here this pm, helicopters, RAF helicopter, air ambulance etc.

turns out a light aircraft landed in the river Derwent at Gunby close to Breighton Airfield

no one killed apparently - that's good

Hopefully the reports regarding casualties (the lack of) are correct.

What time did this occur?

So 24 hours on and they haven't managed to find a boat to tow it to the bank?

Health & Safety I expect. No boat owners certified to tow aeroplanes...

Someone trying to drag the wheels down the river maybe? hehe You would have thought that with the amount of land either side, if he actually had a problem there are plenty of places to put it down.

Same pilot killed on Friday in a crash in Switzerland. His passenger was also killed.

That's bad luck.

Apparently, the aircraft down in Switzerland was G-BBEF, a PA-28. Mu old "spotter's" log shows I noted this at Dublin back in 1976.

There are threads on other forums that are somewhat less symathetic to the pilot.

I was being sarcastic wink Sad thing is the pillock took somebody else with him! Who "Force Lands" in a twist river with bloody great fields either side?

A classic case of ignoring the obvious the first time has now cost an innocent person their life...

"The writing was on the wall" methinks... (if indeed it was his him flying)

A bit early to be castigating the pilot, I would suggest.

Engine failure, Two large fields or a river? Simple choice(s) and it ain't the river...

I'm all for enquiries and facts, not bullst and lies...

Nothing could be proven the first time, at least he can't do it again...

As I said RIP
