480 head lights

my mums 480 thats she has had for years and has been totaly reliable has developed a weird fault.

the lights come on but dont pop up. its not the fuse or the switch changed both.

however when u wind the lights up manualy and then turn them off they go down by them self

any ideas?

A malfunctioning limit switch making them think they're already up?

Remember this happening on my dad's 480 back in the day, but can't remember what it was, its a fairly common fault IIRC.

You can wind up the motors and just drive with them on for now.

I think we ended up replacing the motor

many years since i worked on them,but a faulty bonnet switch springs to mind as its a 2 way switch and if the second stage is sticking the circuit will be open so the lamps wont pop up.
