96 V70 T5 - missifire

Just bought a banger T5, it miss fires slightly all the time but on full throttle it boost up around 3k and hits a wall at around 4k then suddenly clears and runs clean to the limiter.
Looking at the MOTs it's only done 6k in last 2 years so maybe it's just need using.
With HT leads being rather dear is there anything else to check first?
Don't want to spend a fortune as it defeats the object of buying it.
