I am thinking of ordering a C63 AMG as a daily driver, but would really appreciate some advice on what spec should be ordered to maximise the re-sale value when it comes to sell. It seems that a limited-slip diff is essential, but what about PP or even PPP? What else is regarded as essential for either enjoyment of the car or for re-sale value.

Having read Palmball's interesting post on factory collection it seems that this is a must! I must say that the outside colour of this car looks ace as well. Thanks guys.

pp is no longer available any more only the ppp is,the lsd is a must 19inch wheels in black look good, harmon kardon, comand, intelligent light system, ppp is pricey option at 5k but gives the car a extra 30bhp and a very nice alacantara steering wheel red calipers and some components from the sls amg.

For reasale, sensible colour combo is the first thing. What about an estate? They seem to be rarer and move really quickly (I gave up trying to find a nice used one when I was looking).
COMAND for sure.
LSD because so few are specced with this that finding one with it is really hard. A lot of "drivers" would have this on their "must" list.
Apart from that, I wanted 18s so can't comment on that one.
Other oprions are relatively cheap, like the lights and the black interior, so might as well have them smile

Aeroman - save yourself a fortune and buy mine! wink

You'll not get a C63 out of the factory like it!

Well, now there is the question!

I'm the sort of person who periodically changes his car and I'm now on my 2nd C63 (meaning I've owned them for around 18 months). For me, this is an eternity on one type of car so they must be good!

I put my car for sale last week and went shopping this weekend to find something else...in particular I tried a Maserati Granturismo S, an Aston V8 Vantage 4.7, a Porsche 911 and a Nissan GT-R.

I liked the Maserati for it's looks and sound but couldn't get on with the seats (truly the worst I'd ever tried) and it also felt a bit underpowered compared to the AMG.

The GT-R was absolutely fantastic as a drivers car and would rape the C63 on take off and round bends (although once at moving at higher speeds it didn't seem to be any quicker). However, I couldn't use it as an everyday mode of transport - it was just too hardcore and the ride was diabolical!

The Aston was underwhelming in every respect and the Porsche, well, I don't know why I even looked at that as I hate (with a passion) the way they look (although I appreciate that they are brilliant to drive).

In all, I couldn't find anything under 18 months old that for around the £65k mark could compare as an all-rounder to the C63...they are simply fantastic!

It's still for sale as I'm trying to get a deal on an E63...similar in so many ways but that bit better for it has the MCT gearbox (the AMG MCT is probably the best auto gearbox I've ever experienced) and is that bit better built.

However, is the E63 worth another £20k on top of a C63? No it isn't but then the deals MB are doing on E63's brings them within spitting distance of a fully loaded new C63 so that makes it quite an enticing proposition. I'd have done the deal already had I been totally convinced on the looks so I'm currently in the stage of weighing up whether to continue to enjoy the C63's more aesthetic appeal or the E63's better dynamic ability. Choices choices....

Palmball,

Well it was your thread detailing your factory collection that spurned me into the C63 market.

I too have tried the GT-R but as for using it everyday, I think I wouldn't enjoy it as much as a C63. So, hopefully, tomorrow I should get confirmation of the build and delivery date of mine.
Unfortunately, as I want delivery before the end of 2010, the collect from factory doesnt seem to be an option... frown

I did look at a CL63 which was a gorgeous car. Love the looks and interior, but on starting it up I was underwhelmed by the noise and 'too executive' feel of the car. The E63 is awesome car too but can't get on with the side on looks. The lines on the rear arch seem a bit awkward to me.

I hope you make a good choice and whoever gets your car is a lucky boy (or girl)....

Thanks guys and apologies for my belated response, but I am travelling and have not had access to the Net. Thanks Palmball for your kind offer, but I have had a car with very light-coloured leather and I could not live with another on a daily basis.

In addition, I do like the idea of picking the car up at the factory and as you know, it's all nice to spec a car exactly how you want it. I may PM you for some advice particularly when it comes to getting a deal from a Dealer!
