Scale Model World - Telford
Discussion
Just a heads up to let the scale modellers here know that the annual model show at Telford will be on this weekend. It's the biggest scale model exhibition in the UK (possibly Europe) and there will be all sorts of models on show as well as loads of traders etc.
As a bonus, on Monday, the nearby RAF Museum at Cosford will open its restoration centre to the public so you can see the work being carried out there in the workshops.

I'd just decided to go to this one when I realised I was at the NEC this weekend
Shame, better hope for a more Classic Car aware weekend next year
Hope they have a good turnout Eric

Apparently the lighting isn't safe in the exhibition so its been closed while the contractors sort it out! Might be open again by now though
I popped in for quick dash around last year. The lighting was a bit subdued I suppose. I wish some one would do something about the lighting at Hendon - it's appalling.Shar2 said:
Going up to Telford on the Saturday, the first time I've been to SMW. I'm really looking forward to it.
Make yourself known at the Farnborough IPMS stand - it should be fairly obvious as they have a large Cody Tree Red and White logo and the display is of captured German aircraft.I'll be hanging around there - as well as wandering about spending money.

It's ok Eric, I've already downloaded the floorplan. Ta for the offer though.
OK - if you look carefully at the plan (and the accompanying list) you will see where the Farnborough lads will be situated (they give us the same spot every year). There is some construction work being caried out at the centre at the moment so there are some parking restrictions in place and the area where the little snack bar is located has been reduced in size. they are going to be adding another exhibition hall to the site so next year should be really impressive.

I've admired their Harier displays for a few years now. I need to get on and build some of the Harriers in my stash.
They do have some great models, which is why I'm really taking my time on a 1/48 Airfix Sea Harrier trying ot sort out all the missing and incorrect details.NismoGT said:
I live in Telford and have never been of this!!!
I went to a fair at the International centre that was purely kit based.
I'm guessing this is the same thing? Any diecats models on sale/display?
Not really. It's a display of scale models that have been constructed rather than just bought I went to a fair at the International centre that was purely kit based.

The bulk are made up from kits although there will be displays of scratch built models and heavilly converted models. The subjects cover virtually very genre possible - aircraft, ships, cars, real space, sci-fi, fantasy, armour, etc etc. There will also be dozens of traders and a world class competition.
If you like models at all I would urge you to go. The quality of the models in the competition classes are simply stunning.
