The first TVR I ever sat in was a Griffith 400 at Brnads. The owner had two leather straps on the bonnet and they looked a bit crude. He said that after running the car in (it was less than a eyar old) he'd tried to see how fast it would go on a motorway. He got up to the 140s (indicated) when the bonnet catch broke and the rear of the bonnet went level with the top of the windscreen. He was doing 140 with no forward view. If he braked the bonnet stayed high. Hence the straps. Taking pics of this one was like I was back as a kid. The clutch was unbeleivably heavy. I asked the owner how he got on racing it and he said he only used the clutch for starts. After that it was just a brief stamp on it to loosen it a bit. A fabulous looking car, if a bit untidy. Nice!

I believe they are the Racing Green exhausts, or their style? Stunning picture as always.

I wrote a little article on the RG exhausts and then got a frantic phone call to pull it, nearly at the last moment. Those at TVR were not amused. I thought them a real improvement.

The 'side' exhausts on the Sag fit the 'bonkers' image of the car, but those in the piccies above look like a class piece of after market mods

Recently fitted a set to the Sag and really please with the look and most people seem to like them, odd one who doesn't but thats life.

For me they are a marmite modification - despite my relationship with RG, it really isn't my cup of tea.

That's what I love about freedom of speech - we discuss openly and agree to differ. I agree the standard ones are wacky, I just thought the RG ones looked special TO ME. Just need someone to give me the rest of the car, and I wouldn't give a stuff which it had...

This page needs to be printed and framed - people quietly agreeing to disagree over modifications on a car forum. Maybe the Olympics has changed us!
