Mercedes Benz S350 ?

Hi, I am looking into buying an S350 2003 with 50k, FSH. Its black and I really like it.
Are these ok to own, or expensive ? I dont do half as many miles as i used to and when i do i find myself wanting to get home because my car is uncomfortable, and being a diesel i have to change gear constantly, the idea of an automatic really appeals to me and the seats look super comfortable.
The other car im looking at is an older S500 but im not sure i even need the extra hp ?

The choice S class is reckoned to be the S320CDi.
Regarding running costs...no luxury car is going to be inexpensive to run. Tyres, servicing and other routine expenses will be generally higher than those for lower priced vehicles.
Depending on your driving style and use, the S500 may prove to be quite costly on fuel (around 20mpg).
